About our new
pianos
We sell new
pianos made in China by Dongbei
Piano Group, and Silbermann Piano Company. Dongbei pianos
have brand names such as "August Hoffman," Nordiska," "Story &
Clark," "Prelude," "Everett," Niemeyer," "Ridgewood," and
"Sagenhaft." The Silbermann Piano Company markets pianos very
similar in construction to the "August Hoffman" under the "Silbermann"
brand name.
The Dongbei
Piano Group was established in the
1960's in the industrial city of Yingkou in northeastern China. The
factory first utilized production facilities and technologies from
Nordiska, Sweden. Top-notch production facilities were also imported
from Germany and Japan. In 1996 Dongbei Piano Group began
development and production of the Niemeyer brand of pianos, as a
joint venture with world-renowned piano engineer Bob Gregory. In
2000, the Dongbei factory received the prestigious Platinum Award at
the International Quality Summit Convention, New York, recognizing
the superior quality of its pianos.
The Silbermann Piano
won the Shanghai Musikmesse show aware in 2005 for best piano. Mr.
Lee, the chief engineer of the Silbermann Piano Factory who has
previous experience at the Yamaha Piano Division, personally
inspects each piano before shipping. Before each piano is shipped,
it is given at least 30 days for the new strings to settle, then
carefully checked and tuned. The Silbermann Piano Company is a
comparatively small facility, able to pay special attention to
quality control. Its introductory shipments to the U.S. market
feature beautiful cabinetry.
