42" Hyundai Studio #HGA03100 Model U820 -
White polish ("egg-shell")
Manufactured in
1988 by the Samick Musical Instrument Co., Inchon, Korea. German
delignit pinblock, German Roslau strings, hard rock maple bridges,
and English Royal George 18 lb. felt hammers ensure a clear, mellow
tone from low bass to top treble. Japanese direct-blow Schwander
action is responsive and efficient. Keyboard manufactured by Japan
Keyboard Co. Ltd. Keys lead-weighted at 10 ounces for consistent
touch and feel. Extra heavy cast iron plate with 3" rim around the
perimeter, unusually wide at both top and bottom to allow for the
soundboard area to be exposed and to resonate freely. Highest grade
quarter sawn white Sitka spruce soundboard. From a piano
technician's point of view, we find this piano to be easy to tune
because the pins move without creaking and the strings settle
smoothly under the well-constructed Cap D'Astro Bar and in agraffes.
Shows very little hammer wear, suggesting that the piano was not
played many hours since new. We completely cleaned the interior,
tightened all action screws, corrected the regulation adjustments,
and tuned the piano. It's ready to go. It should delight any
musician with a modest budget. In its current condition, this piano
is valued at about $1,500; however, we reduced the price to $1,000
to account for a few scratches on the cabinet and a slight burn
stain on the lid.

1 – Decal and hinge are solid brass for added beauty. Acrylic
key tops and blacks are in perfect shape. |

2 –
Comes with matching straight-leg
bench, white vinyl bench cover. Has music compartment. |
|

3 – There are no rear posts
in this piano, but a massive plate more than makes up for this,
resulting in an unusually heavy instrument for its size. |

4 – "Front legs" aren't
needed on this piano--the main weight is near the back of the
cabinet. |
|
 5 –
The large plate
rims are clearly visible. This piano has the usual "sustain" pedal,
and two "soft" pedals. |
 6 –
We removed the
action for cleaning and servicing. We tightened all screws and
checked all moving parts. There is very little wear visible on the
hammers, back checks and catchers. |
|

7 – We removed the keys,
cleaned and polished the capstans and the key top surfaces. |
6 – We removed the front
panels and the "muffler" bar for cleaning. Also, we trimmed the
"muffler" felt to make sure it clears the hammers when the pedal is
up. |
|

9 –
The plate extends
the full width of the piano at the top, and has a thick rim for
extra strength. |

10 – We cleaned the strings,
pins, the key pins, and the keybed before reassembling the piano. |
|

11 –
We tuned the
piano at concert pitch and reassembled it. Ready for delivery! |

12 –
Here's the "burn
blemish" on the piano lid which convinced us to sell it a reduced
price. |
