54" Ludwig Upright #24869 Mahogany cabinet, Built in 1899, Rebuilt & Refinished by Ray's Piano Service, Fall 2002 This piano was a "family heirloom" of the owner's family.  The owner had it picked up from his previous home in Mt. Vernon, WA, and delivered after restoration to his new home on Samish Island, WA. IMPROVEMENTS COMPLETED: Rebuild—Repair soundboard, refinish soundboard & bridges, refinish plate, restring and repin. Refinish—Repair & strip cabinet & bench. Apply walnut stain, sealer & lacquer. Install new rubber buttons. Install new fallboard decal. Replate pedals. Provide matching bench, refinish. Recondition action—Complete cleaning. Install new hammers. Tighten action screws. Replace defective parts. Regulate—All adjustments to ensure that piano plays like new. Tune to A-440.   SCHEDULE: Picked up from Mt. Vernon, WA : September 2002 Restoration completed: November 2002 Delivered to Samish Island, WA: December 2002

Pictures of the improvement process taken in our shop:

1 – After dismantling the piano, we removed the strings, pins, and plate. Then we repaired and refinished the soundboard.	2 – We re-installed the plate, installed new strings and pins, reconditioned the action, and installed new underkey punchings.
3 – We had the pedals replated, and rebuilt the "bottom board" before reassembly.	4 - We installed new plastic keytops and new muffler felt on the "soft pedal" mechanism which reduces the piano's volume when the middle pedal is pressed.
5 – The legs of the new bench have the same fluted design as the piano legs.	6 – We installed a new fallboard decal under the final coat of clear lacquer.
