48" Silbermann Upright Satin Mahogany
Model 122 SS

Beautiful satin mahogany "antique design" cabinet, with bench. Manufactured by Silbermann Piano Company in China. We were recently introduced to this Chinese piano manufacturer by our Canadian distributor, who reported that this piano has been receiving high praise at the 2005 NAMM and MIAC music shows. The Silbermann factory won the Shanghai Musikmesse show award for best pianos in 2005. The factory is comparatively small, making about 1,000 pianos per year. Their chief engineer, who previously worked for Pramberger and Yamaha Pianos, personally inspects every piano before shipping. Also each piano is retained at the factory for 30 days for a final check and tuning prior to shipping. The very reasonable price of this model reflects savings we can pass on to you by operating with a low-cost overhead and it also reflects the distributor's interest in increasing the popularity of this brand-name in the United States. This piano is very heavy for its size due to the large posts in its frame and its full-size cast iron plate, resulting in a  deep, rich musical tone.

1 – A distinctive feature of this model is the curved shape of the legs, both on the piano and on the accompanying bench.


2 – Teachers will like this music rest and desk--it extends across the full width of the piano, so there's lots of room.

 


3 – The lid hinges are attached to a thick board that runs along the top of the piano. A close inspection of the piano's interior shows design and parts of high quality, equal to those found in well-known Japanese pianos.


4 – The back beams and frame of this piano are heavy and sturdy, much like those of our August Hoffman pianos.

 


5 – This piano brass pedals are surrounded by a fancy "face plate."


6 – The bench has a music compartment.

 


7 – The lid can be raised a few inches, becoming a deflector for the musical sound. Because this piano is almost as tall as a vintage upright, the tone is deep and rich.


8 – The 2-part fallboard has a full-length piano hinge for extra strength.
