Pianos Restored On Contract

37" Winter Spinet #296777

Mahogany, Built in 1952. Restored by Ray's Piano Service, Fall 2003

This piano was badly damaged, with one leg and side wall completely broken off, and extensive damage to the music rest. It also required cleaning because of corrosion on pins and strings. We agreed to make all repairs required, refinish the piano, and tune it. After completing improvements, we held the piano in storage until the owner was ready for delivery.

IMPROVEMENTS COMPLETED:

Recondition—Complete cleaning, reshape hammers, tighten action screws, install new plastic elbows, replace other defective parts.

Regulate—all adjustments to ensure that piano plays like new, tune to A-440.

Refinish--Repair cabinet and music rest as needed, strip and sand cabinet & bench.  Apply stain, sealer, and lacquer. Install new rubber buttons and fallboard decal.

taken in our shop:

1 – With the piano on its back, we repaired the broken leg and side with glue and clamps.

2 – We cleaned the pins and strings.

3 – We reconditioned the piano action. This included tightening all screws, reshaping hammers, installing several new hammers, and  installation of a new set of plastic "elbows" to replace the original, brittle ones.

4 – We masked off the cabinet and, after sanding and veneer repair, we applied stain, sealer, and lacquer to all surfaces.

5 – We installed a new decal under the final coat of finish

6 – We repaired and refinished the music rest.

7 – After reassembly and tuning, this piano looks and plays like new again!
